Three Polson teachers receive Educator Grants

| October 31, 2024 12:00 AM

Three Polson teachers received Educator Grants, funded by the Greater Polson Community Foundation in conjunction with the Polson Scholarship and Education Foundation.

They were recognized Oct. 15 at the Polson School Board meeting.

Cherry Valley’s Sarah Howell will add “Purposeful Play” to her kindergarten lessons. She plans to introduce letter names and sounds with “Zoophonics” stuffed animals, purchased with her grant funds. Howell’s goal is to help every child develop a love for learning and being at school.

Polson High School students will have the opportunity to see “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” engage in various drama workshops, and take part in a question-and-answer session with Montana’s Shakespeare in the Schools players, with help from English teacher Melissa Bahr’s grant.

The “Vertical Cooking Project: World Central Kitchen” grant will allow Stephanie Anderson to help her Family and Consumer Science high school students plan, organize, cook and present food to invited guests. Her students will work with elementary students on the project.

Clothing and textile students will sew aprons for their third grade protégés, and other students will plan lessons on meals and cooking, and work with their younger charges to prepare and serve a meal.
