But what do you care about, man?
There’s a billboard on Highway 93 in Lake County, plus many smaller posted signs, duplicates of the billboard, showing a photo of a guy running for the state legislature (HD-91). He’s grinning in a photo on the billboard, saying something like, “I’m running because I care.”
Nothing about what or who he might care about. Well, that’s not worth much. It’s easy for anyone to say they “care.” Everyone cares about something.
But what do you care about, man? Do care about education? For whom? Everyone? Or just for rich people? Do you care about the housing crisis? Are you concerned about matters that affect everyone in this district, matters like global warming? Fires? Equitable justice? What about Montana’s wildlife values? What about the environment?
If you have the guts to represent your district, to really represent the people in HD-91, then you ought to have the guts to speak out and tell the people what it is you stand for. Or do you just want to be elected, so you can then wield power?
If you’re going to run to represent people, they have the right to know just how you’re going to do that and with what views.
