Lady Bulldogs have strong leadership for 2024
Mission was building last year, making huge improvements as the year went on. With a bevy of returners this year, the Lady Bulldogs could continue to build on that foundation.
“Last year, we were more aggressive, getting more attacks in and implementing different things we weren't fully confident in during different matches in the post-season,” Mission Head Coach Marissa Mock said.
Returners this year include outside hitters Alecia Steele and Maia Christopher, middle blockers Cora Matt and Kieran Incashola, setters Jada Domebo and Amelia Cronk, right-side hitter Brooke Tanner, and a plethora of back row players E'Liena Peone, Madison Incashola, and Kensey Burke.
“We also have Aliya Fyant, Avia Lee, and Madisyn Hanken as additions to the team,” Mock said.
Mock expects strong leadership from Steele, Christopher, Matt Domebo, and Cronk, and she expects her team to continue to try new things and take risks when time allows them to happen.
“I want them to build positive comradery with each other and focus fundamentally on the little things we need to correct as the season continues,” Mock said. “I believe our strength this year is our leadership. We have strong captains that have positive mindsets to lead the team and we have a community of girls on the varsity roster that are determined to challenge themselves and get out of their comfort zone to try new things.”
Each year the league is tough for the Bulldogs, as Thompson Falls and Eureka have very strong programs that are well-coached.
“Plains has made leaps and bounds in the past couple of years and will put up a fight,” Mock said. “Troy and Superior also continue to grow their programs each year. I am excited to play against all these teams and see the matchups this season.”
