Polson got its first victory of the year, keeping Libby off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter in a 38-8 Northwest A Conference victory at home on Friday, Sept. 6. Quarterback Holden Emerson rushed for 161 yards on 27 carries and two scores and passed for another touchdown.

The Pirates started things off with a 26-yard field goal from Lucian Sawyer in the first quarter. Emerson then threw an 11-yard pass to Cason Graham in the second quarter and ran for another to give Polson a 17-0 halftime lead.

After a scoreless third, Emerson found paydirt from three years out to make it 23-0. Libby would answer back with their lone touchdown of the game, but the Pirates soon opened the floodgates.

Shaedon Perry ran from six yards out to score, and Daniel O’Roake notched a 19-yard touchdown run for Polson’s final score. The Pirates would finish with 333 yards on the ground, including 145 yards from Perry on 20 carries.

Emerson went 3-for-9 through the air for 28 yards.

On defense, Graham made five solo tackles, including two for a loss. Bryce Allred and Jerium Rushing each had four tackles.

Polson improved to 1-1, while Libby fell to 1-1 on the year.
