| September 12, 2024 12:00 AM

The City of Polson Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire last Thursday morning near the intersection of Hwy. 93 and 4th Ave. E., at Pure West Real Estate.

According to fire officials, units arrived in less than five minutes and found light smoke coming from the roof and heavy smoke in the building.

Construction crews were working on the building at the time of the incident and told firefighters that some sort of explosion had occurred. Three individuals were injured and transported to the hospital with burn injuries.

Fire damage was contained and did not spread to the rest of the building. Fire suppression efforts continued until 11:30 a.m., at which time the building was turned over to its owners.

Polson Rural Fire District was also dispatched at the time of initial call at around 9:30 a.m. Seven vehicles and 27 personnel responded to the scene.

Polson Fire also responded to a structure fire Aug. 26 on the 200 block of 20th Ave. That blaze started in the kitchen areas and was quickly knocked down, although the house suffered significant heat and smoke damage. Again, Polson Rural Fire helped out, as did Mission Valley Power and Polson Police and ambulance.
