Our new and renewing membership campaign is gearing up for the third week in September and promises free banana splits for new or renewed members. Thirty years ago, our dues were $15. They still are.

Free flu/COVID vaccines will be offered by Safeway Pharmacy from 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 23.

The Safe Driver Course, sponsored by AARP and hosted by our center will be presented on Sept. 24 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This easy-to-follow video presentation and guidebook for safe driving focuses on the safety of the senior citizens who are navigating our road ways.

Pre-registration is required so that enough guidebooks are on hand. The $25 fee will mean a three-year discount on your car insurance policy. It’s renewable every three years with refresher course.

A nutrition director is wanted, full or part-time. Apply at the center. Candidate should have basic record keeping, office management and phone skills.

Bowling “no-tap” starts Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. Have fun knocking those pins down (or not). Call Don at 406-885-5617 for details.

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: wood carving for beginners, 1 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, join any week; self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, sitting or standing; bingo, 6:30 p.m. Fridays ($100 blackout), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays.

Pinochle is now offered two days a week: 12:30-3 p.m. Thursdays (standard rules), or Mondays, “no-pass, partners” rules; also three- or five-handed starts in October. Inquire at the center about bridge.

Wednesday is game day – bring a game and a group of friends from 1-3 p.m. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays.

A veteran’s service officer visits the center on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month.

Meals are available for sit-down from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays, and delivered to qualified people who call before 10 a.m. A suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program.

Upcoming main dishes include: oven-baked beef stew, Sept. 12; chicken enchiladas, Sept. 13; chili, Sept. 16; ham loaf and scalloped spuds, Sept. 17; taco salad, Sept. 18; pork chops, Sept. 19; and fish, Sept. 20.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at 504 Third Ave. E. For more information, call 406-883-4735, email polsonseniorcenter@gmail.com or visit us on Facebook.
