Harold "Neil" Anderson, 76

Harold “Neil” Anderson, age 76, of Polson, passed away at his residence on Aug. 20, 2024, with family at his side after a battle with cancer.

He was born on May 27, 1948, to Gordon and Rozella Anderson in Great Falls. He was welcomed by four siblings, brothers Frank, Joe and Kenneth (Bud), and one sister, Patricia. In 1981, he was blessed with a blended family which included Yvonne Anderson and nine more siblings in Polson.

Neil served in the U.S. Army at the end of the Vietnam War and worked for his dad at Anderson’s Body Shop before moving and working for the City of Alameda, California. After retirement, Neil returned home to Polson.

Neil will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, studying cartography, riding his bike, playing pool as a lifetime member of the VFW post #2986 for over 50 years, and cherished moments spent with loved ones at his East Shore home.

Neil is survived by his longtime friend and confidante, Margret (Maggie) Winkler, with whom he shared many years of memories. He also leaves behind his four daughters, Dori Anderson and Amber (Dan) Maurer from his first marriage, and Jennifer (Zane) Hafla and Rozella Rosales from his second marriage; nine grandchildren, Tucker, DJ, Brendan, Kayilah, Krystan, Karsyn, DayVee, and Dayne; and two great-grandchildren, Brooks and Kinsley.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents, his four siblings, and granddaughter Devann.

Neil had numerous family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held Oct. 5, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. for an Indian summer gathering and celebration at his home adjacent to East Shore Smokehouse, Highway 35, mile marker 6, Polson. Bring positive memories, a covered dish, and dress accordingly.
