Milton wins Pirate Invitational

Max Milton was the top medalist at the 2024 Pirate Invitational on Monday, September 9, shooting a 72, one stroke ahead of Hamilton’s Tyce O’Connell, who notched a 73. 

Playing at the Polson Bay Golf Course, the Pirate golfer birdied holes one and three en route to a first nine 35. On the back half of the golf course, Milton shot a 37, parring the final six holes.

Ronan’s Oliver Rowe and Trey Samsel tied for ninth, shooting a 78. Rowe notched three birdies in the round, while Samsel had one birdie.

Polson placed sixth a team with a 333. Fox Gilchrist shot an 84 to tie for 22nd place, while Wyatt Wadsworth was tied for 29th with an 87.

Ronan's Cooper Clary also tied for 29th with an 87, while fellow Chief Joey Fulwiler scored a 100 to place tied for 57th. 

On the girls' side, Polson’s Kila Cannon tied for eighth place, shooting a 95 on her home course while Ronan’s Emma Smith placed 23rd with a 112. Polson’s Sophia Matt was 26th with a 117. 

Frenchtown’s Kate Lewis placed first with a 76.

Milton Wins Third Straight Tournament 

Polson’s Max Milton won his third straight event, scoring a three under par 140 in the two-day Libby Invitational at the Indian Springs Golf Course in Eureka on Thursday and Friday, September 12-13.

Ronan’s Oliver Rowe tied for 12th place, shooting a 78 in the first round and 82 in the second.

Milton opened up a four-shot lead with a 68 in round one, and then followed that up with a 72 to win the event by six total strokes. Polson finished fifth as a team. Milton had four birdies and just one bogey in the first round and four birdies in the second round as well. 

Polson’s Carson Emerson tied for 24th, shooting a 174 and Fox Gilchrist was tied for 28th, carding a 178. Ronan’s Connor Durglo tied for 31st with a 184.

On the girls side, Ronan’s Hanna Lytton tied for 14th with a 210 while teammate Emma Smith was 19th with a 120. Polson’s Johanna Bieber was 27th with a 238.
