Polson runs past Butte Central

Polson fended off a comeback from Butte Central for a 21-13 victory on Friday, September 23. Pirate quarterback Holden Emerson rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns while passing for 133 and another score.

In the first quarter, Emerson ran the ball in from the one-yard line and then three a 58-yard touchdown pass to Cody Haggard. Emerson ran it in from the goalline again in the second quarter for the 21-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Butte Central missed a 30-yard field goal but then scored a touchdown on a three-yard run and a 37-yard touchdown pass.

Shaedon Perry was Polson’s top rusher, carrying the ball 18 times for 105 yards. Emerson went 10-for-15 passing, with three of those passes going to Haggard for 68 yards and another three passes finding Perry for 42 yards.

Butte Central had 296 yards of offense, while Polson had 320 yards. Jerium Rushing had nine total tackles, including four assists, while Emerson had the same on defense.

Polson improved to 2-1 on the season while it was Butte Central’s first loss of the season.
