Polson powered its way on the ground, rushing for 318 yards as it defeated its Lake County rival Ronan 37-14 on Friday, September 20. The win pushed Polson’s record to 3-1 on the season.

“It always feels good to go and get a win in Ronan,” Carson Oakland said. “Our ability to control the line of scrimmage was a key for us. When we run the ball you can control the game and clock. Our offense did a good job executing in the first half and minus some big plays our whole defense played a good game.”

Pirate quarterback Hunter Emerson had a big game, rushing 31 times for 181 yards and four touchdowns in the game. Emerson put Polson up 14-0 in the first quarter with a one-yard and a five-yard touchdown run.

In the second quarter, Polson exploded for 20 points. Lucian Sawyer hit a 35-yard field goal. Polson notched a safety as a Ronan punt snap was kicked out of the endzone. Emerson would score again on a one-yard run.

Ronan responded with a Laurance Lozeau 63-yard pass reception from Kolby Finley, but Emerson found the endzone again from a yard out to put Polson up 34-6 at halftime.

“Our entire offensive line had a great day,” Oakland said. “Holden Emerson ran for 150+ yards and four TDs. Our defensive line played well. Jarret Siefert got his first varsity start, forced fumble and lead our team in tackles and tackles for loss.”

Finley found Lozeau for a 23-yard second half touchdown pass in the second half, while Sawyer wrapped up Polson’s scoring in the fourth with a 25-yard field goal.

Finley was 7-of-19 passing for 140 yards.

Polson’s Daniel O’Roake rushed for 92 yards on 16 carries while Shaedon Perry carried the ball for ten times for 52 yards. In the air, Emerson passed 11-for-17 for 96 yards.

“ I am proud of how we have responded each week. We can't be satisfied in what we have accomplished,” Oakland said. “We need to continue to strive to get better.”

Ronan had 155 yards total in the game and fell to 1-3 on the year.
