John McCrorie Jr., 78

| April 10, 2025 12:00 AM

John McCrorie Jr., 78, passed away March 5, 2025, in Whitefish from natural causes, with his wife, Sandra, by his side. He was born Feb. 24, 1947, to John Sr. and Luella McCrorie. John grew up in Proctor on the family ranch. He was the fifth child of six.

John attended school in Proctor, Polson, and Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell. He served in the National Guard Army Reserve and he ranched on the family ranch along with other kinds of employment.

John married Janet Fullbright [Nielsen]. They had four children together, John, Sara, Ben and Marcus.

John and Sandra married in 1988 and shared 36 years together. John built many houses. In the last 30-plus years, he was a heating contractor and was the main contractor for the senior home repair. John also was a contractor for the weatherization program through CAP of Northwest Montana.

His kindness and compassion for the people he served was so appreciated. John’s knowledge of building and years of self-taught skills were put to good use.

He always was there to assist and help others. John and Sandra participated in the foster care/adopt program for some years. They eventually were able to adopt their daughter, Margaret.  John and Sandra participated in the Awana program at their church, making and serving meals to the kids and their families for 13 years.

John served as an elder in the Chapel of Praise Church of God of Cleveland, Tenn., and Eureka, Mont. He had the heart to help others anyway he could. His quiet and caring manner really touched those around him.

To those observing, John was a man that persevered forward in setbacks, sickness, and disappointments in life. His faith in God kept him grounded.

John was proceeded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Luella, brother, Billie, sister Juanita, and sister-in-law Anna Mae. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his five children, John (Angie), Sara (James), Ben (Myra), Marcus (Ashlie) and Margaret (Bobbie); three stepchildren, Jon (Jennifer), Kristen (Dave), and Kara (Brad); 12 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; his brothers, Dan (Maryann), Frank (Judy), and Iven (Betty); and Tim Tenas, a foster brother who grew up alongside John in the family home.

We want to send a special thank you to Mountain View of Cascadia, Eureka, for the outstanding care they gave John in this past year. We send our thank you and appreciation to Dr. Stein and his caring staff as well.

We thank Pastor Curtis McDuffie and the body of Chapel of Praise for walking alongside us, showing such love, and kindness to us as we navigated this season of time in John's life here.
