Brown, Delaney tops at MCPS Invite
The Polson track and field team turned in a series of standout performances at the 2025 MCPS Invitational on Friday, April 11, with several first-place finishes.
One of the top highlights came from sophomore Morgan Delaney, who captured first place in the girls 3200 meters (11:32.25). Delaney was joined in the top 10 by Kimora Scott, who finished eighth at 11:58.49, helping solidify Polson’s strength in long-distance events.
In the sprints, Rosie Lies placed 12th in the 100 meters (13.48 seconds) and 21st in the 200 meters, where she logged a time of 28.10.
Amelia Stene delivered another key performance for the Pirates in the girls 400 meters, racing to eighth place at 1:02.89. Kellyn Nelson scored points in two events, placing eighth in the girls 300-meter hurdles (58.04 seconds) and seventh in pole vault with a clearance of 8 feet, 6 inches.
On the boys' side, David DiGiallonardo had a strong day on the track, placing sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.28 and fifth in the 1600 meters at 4:38.80.
In the field events, senior thrower Astin Brown once again proved dominant. Brown won the boys shot put with a throw of 58 feet, 4 inches, and placed fourth in discus with a mark of 151 feet, 5 inches, continuing his impressive season.
