Roaming dogs are a menace
It’s time the County /State or both to catch up to 2025. Nothing has changed since I moved away in 1983.
There are too many stray dogs and owned dogs running loose everywhere you go. Some people have 3-5 dogs running loose at any given time in packs. Yesterday I watched 5 or 6 dogs attack and chase a bigger dog down the street – what if it was a child?
My wife was walking our cat on a leash in our front yard and a dog charged her.
Owner responsibility is nowhere to be found in Lake County. In talking to the Lake County Commission their excuse is
1. We don’t have an animal control officer or facility
2. We’re only allotted so much money from the State.
Just happens to be the same excuse they use for plowing side roads. It’s time for the county to deal with the dog issue in Lake County by
1. Imposing a countywide leash law;
2. Establishing an animal control facility; and
3. Hiring 2-3 animal control officers under authority of the Sheriff’s Department to cover
both the County and Reservation.
When a homeowner can’t enjoy his own property or walk down the street without worrying about other people’s “pets,” then maybe it’s time for the homeowner to deal with the problem.
