Ronan relay wins at Libby Invite
Ronan athletes traveled to the 2025 Libby Invitational on Saturday, April 12, where they claimed a first-place relay finish and a shot-put championship at Logger Stadium.
The boys 4x400-meter relay team – composed of Wade Qualtier, Jacob Piapot, Siouxpixm Qualtier and Jhett McDonald – raced to a first-place finish with a time of 3:39.84, a highlight of the day for the Chiefs.
On the track, Ronan distance runner Jacob Piapot placed third in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:54.78, while teammate Devon BigMedicine followed close behind in sixth at 5:05.89. BigMedicine also earned fourth in the 3200 meters, clocking in at 10:36.66.
In hurdles action, Wade Qualtier placed second in the 300-meter hurdles with a 42.89 finish and added a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash. McDonald also scored in the 300 hurdles, taking fifth in 45.83.
In the field events, Masyn Wayman had a standout day with a throw of 47 feet, 6 inches in the shot put to win the event. He also earned second in the discus at 130-03. Koda King placed fifth in the javelin with a mark of 137-08, and Siouxpixm Qualtier soared to 12 feet in the pole vault to take first.
On the girls’ side, Lauryn Buhr led the Maidens with a third-place finish in the 100 meters at 13.92 seconds. She also helped power the 4x100 relay team – alongside Alexis Finley, Sophia Torgison and Aaliyah Stewart – to a runner-up finish in 55.73 seconds.
Ronan showed its strength in the field events as well. Annie Adams earned second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 53.95. Angie Adams placed in all three of her throwing events, finishing sixth in the shot put (27-06.5), sixth in the discus (89-07), and fifth in the javelin (75-10).
Rayna Tonasket added points with an eighth-place shot put mark and a ninth-place javelin throw.
Buhr also placed second in the pole vault at 8-06, while Stewart took ninth in the long jump.
