Marva Jean Larson, 87
August 22, 1937 – March 23, 2025
Jeanie (Marva Jean) Larson, 87, of St. Ignatius, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, March 23, 2025 at her daughter’s home in Spokane, Wash.
Jeanie was born in Calio, N.D., to Anton Joseph and Mary Ann Roles. Jeanie met and married her first husband, Robert (Bob) Ebensteiner, in 1955 and moved to Great Falls in 1961.
While in Great Falls, Jeanie spent time as a volunteer at a nursing home. Her greatest love and passion, however, was being at home with her children. Jeanie prided herself as a homemaker. Cooking, baking, and being a master at making literally anything with a sewing machine or crotchet hook was her passion and gift.
In 1969, Jeanie and Bob divorced and shortly after, she met her final love, Louis (Louie) Larson. They married in 1972, adding four stepchildren to her new family.
In 1977, Jeanie and Louie settled on a 40-acre farm on East Post Creek Road in St. Ignatius. “The Farm” became home to many of Jeanie and Louie’s 10 combined children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The Farm was cherished by everyone.
During the summer months, Jeanie and Louie spent their time traveling the pow wow trail with their concession stand, often bringing grandchildren along to work and keeping them out of trouble. As they got older, Jeanie and Louie became “snow birds” and purchased a second home in Yuma, Ariz.
During their time down south, Jeanie spent most of her time playing dominos and bingo. Jeanie was a devout Catholic and spent her weekends attending church. Anticipation came every Mother’s day when Jeanie and Louie would come back to the farm and host BBQs while the grand/great-grandchildren played down at the creek.
As Jeanie and Louie got older, they decided it was time to downsize, and purchased their last home together in Charlo. In 2024, Jeanie’s health began to decline and she developed dementia. She was blessed to be able to stay with her only daughter at her home in Spokane until she went to her final resting place in Heaven.
Jeanie is preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Mary Ann Roles; her brother, Robert (Bob) Roles; her stepdaughter, Debra Russell, and stepson, Darry Larson; and her grandson, Kyle Johnson.
Jeanie is survived by her husband, Louis (Louie) Larson; her children, Raymond Ebensteiner, Keith Ebensteiner, Don and Dan Ebensteiner, Brian (Mona) Ebensteiner, and Marie (Bruce) Hartman; stepchildren Daryll (Laurie) Larson and Dani Campbell; as well as her sisters, Cecelia (Edward) Goergen and Isabell (Willard) Johnson. She is also survived by her grand/great grandchildren, and many friends and family.
A service will be held at Mission Catholic Church on June 18 at 4 p.m., with a dinner to follow. There will also be a mass/burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Munich, N.D., on June 21 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
