MAC Softball improves to 8-2 on the year
The Mission-Arlee-Charlo (MAC) softball team kept rolling on Saturday, picking up a pair of dominant wins over Ennis and Three Forks on the road, Saturday, April 19. The two victories — 12-5 over Ennis and 18-8 over Three Forks — pushed MAC’s record to an impressive 8-2 on the season as the team continues to assert itself as a force in Western B/C softball.
In the opener against Ennis, MAC jumped out early and never looked back. The Bulldogs struck for three runs in the top of the first and added three more in the third to take control. Every time Ennis threatened, MAC answered, including a four-run fourth inning that broke the game open.
Avia Lee led the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate, driving in two runs and roping a double. GG Hawk stayed hot with a 2-for-4 effort, including two RBIs and a double of her own. Kieran Incashola added two hits and two RBIs, and Amelia Cronk contributed a double and two RBIs.
MAC also got a big extra-base spark from Maia Christopher, who legged out a triple.
In the circle, Jada Domebo put together a steady performance, pitching a complete game. She allowed just two earned runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out eight in seven innings of work.
Despite four errors defensively, MAC capitalized on Ennis’ six defensive miscues and used timely hitting to pull away. The Bulldogs tacked on single runs in each of the last two innings to secure the win.
In the second game of the day, MAC’s bats exploded for 19 hits in an 18-8 rout of Three Forks. The game was tight early, with Three Forks taking a 5-1 lead after two innings. But MAC put up seven runs in the third and scored two runs in the fourth and fifth before putting the game out of reach with a six-run seventh.
GG Hawk had a monster game at the plate, going 4-for-6 with five RBIs. She delivered clutch hits throughout the contest, including a pair of extra-base hits that helped MAC swing the momentum firmly in its favor.
Jada Domebo also tallied four hits, while Maia Christopher added three and drove in a run. The bottom of the order came through as well, with Maddy Hanken and Amelia Cronk each driving in three runs. Incashola added two more RBIs and two hits, while Alecia Steele chipped in a 2-for-4 day.
MAC’s offensive depth was on full display as eight of nine starters recorded at least one hit, and eight different players drove in at least one run.
On the mound, Incashola threw a complete game, going seven innings while allowing nine hits and just four earned runs. She struck out three and walked two, working around five defensive errors behind her to keep Three Forks from mounting a serious comeback.
The 18-run outburst marked MAC’s second-highest scoring output of the season, and the team’s ability to respond to early adversity showed composure.
