MDT hosts open house at Ninepipes on two highway projects

| April 24, 2025 12:00 AM

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and project partners host an open house to showcase design and construction plans for both the U.S. Highway 93 Ninepipe-Eagle Pass Trail and Post Creek Hill projects. Both projects are currently in the design phase.

The public is encouraged to stop by any time during an in-person open house from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at the Ninepipes Lodge’s Montana” Conference Room, south of Ronan.

At the events, design drafts and early construction information for both projects will be available and project experts will be on hand to answer questions. MDT will not have a formal presentation.

The Post Creek Hill section will reconstruct U.S. 93 from Red Horn/Dublin Gulch roads to Gunlock/Olsen roads, adding safety and accessibility enhancements and wildlife accommodations. Improvements include widening the roadway to include eight-foot-wide shoulders, a northbound truck climbing lane at Post Creek Hill, left-turn lanes at major intersections, a new bridge over Post Creek that facilitates wildlife movement, and a shared-use path.

Improvements for the Ninepipe-Eagle Pass Trail effort will include work from Brooke Lane to south of Eagle Pass Trail in the Ninepipe area. The complex project features three new highway bridges, a wildlife overpass, a shared-use path and wildlife fencing. Other accommodation features, intersection improvements, a widened section, and drainage upgrades are also on tap.
