Ronan Softball extends streak to five with Libby win
A red-hot Ronan squad kept its momentum rolling Tuesday with an 18-8 win over visiting Libby, extending the Maidens' win streak to five and improving their record to 5-3 on the season.
Ronan used a combination of aggressive baserunning, clutch hitting, and capitalizing on Libby’s defensive miscues to build and maintain control throughout the six-inning contest. The Maidens scored in every inning except the fifth, including a game-changing eight-run fourth that broke the game open.
Kailyn Marengo continued her strong all-around play, going 4-for-5 at the plate with three doubles and three RBIs, while also throwing a complete game in the circle. Marengo allowed 13 hits and eight runs—five earned—while striking out five and walking two in six innings of work.
Autumn Lozeau also had a standout performance, going 2-for-5 with four RBIs and a double. Hadassah Read added a hit and an RBI.
Despite being outhit 13-8 by the Loggers, Ronan took advantage of eight Libby errors and 10 total walks. That, combined with timely hits, allowed the Maidens to keep pressure on the Libby defense from the first pitch.
Ronan jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first inning and never looked back, answering every Libby rally with runs of their own. A two-run second and three-run third built a 8-4 cushion before the big fourth inning blew the game open.
