Polson wins two at Whitefish Duals

Polson delivered a solid performance at the Whitefish Duals last weekend, bouncing back from a tough loss to Columbia Falls with two strong wins over Bigfork and host Whitefish.

In their opening matchup against Columbia Falls, the Pirates fought hard but ultimately fell 46-24. Despite the team loss, Polson showcased its ability to win in explosive fashion, with Gerardo Alvarez making quick work of his opponent at 118 pounds, securing a pin in just 35 seconds. Daniel O’Roake followed up with an even faster finish at 150 pounds, recording a 21-second pin.

The Pirates rebounded with a solid 41-30 victory over Bigfork. Alvarez once again displayed his speed on the mat, picking up a pin in just 50 seconds at 118 pounds. Corben Carlson contributed with a dominant 26-9 technical fall at 126 pounds.

At 103 pounds, Wyatt Moldenhaur added to the team’s success with a crucial pin, helping secure the team’s first dual victory of the day.

Polson closed out the competition with an impressive 48-17 triumph over Whitefish. O’Roake continued his stellar performance at 150 pounds, pinning his opponent to cap off a strong individual showing. Alvarez remained a force at 118 pounds, adding another pin to his weekend tally, this time in 91 seconds.

Throughout the tournament, Polson demonstrated its strength in the lower and middle weight classes, relying on fast pins and aggressive scoring to earn victories. With standout performances from Alvarez and O’Roake leading the charge, the Pirates gained valuable momentum as the postseason nears.
