The Mission/Charlo girls wrestling team, led by Meadow Ragen, put on a strong showing at the Western B/C Divisional Tournament in Butte over the weekend, with multiple wrestlers securing top finishes in their respective weight classes.

Leading the way for the team was Ragen (155 pounds), who dominated her bracket to claim the divisional championship. Ragen pinned Payton Johnson of Manhattan in the quarterfinals (3:38) and followed it up with another pin over Kara Jones of Conrad in the semifinals (3:25).

In the championship match, she made quick work of Lexi Lunceford from Powell County, securing the title with a fall in just 1:17.

Another standout performance came from Anna Cronk (145), who battled her way to a runner-up finish. Cronk started the tournament with a bye and then pinned Kylie Briceno of Broadwater in just 1:21.

She advanced to the finals after a dominant 17-8 major decision over her teammate, Olivia Carnell. In the championship match, Cronk fell in a hard-fought battle to Ruby Herman of Choteau by decision (15-10), securing a second-place finish.

Carnell, also competing at 145 pounds, bounced back from her semifinal loss to Cronk and secured third place. She opened the tournament with back-to-back pins, taking down Arlee’s Lily Adams in just 34 seconds and Manhattan’s Charlotte Steele in 42 seconds.

After her semifinal loss, Carnell responded with another quick pin over Arlee’s Nizhoni Haynes (1:42). In the third-place match, she finished strong, pinning Kyleigh Sivertsen of Cascade in 1:55 to claim the podium finish.

At 190 pounds, Laurin Padilla fought her way to a fourth-place finish. She received a bye in the quarterfinals but fell in the semifinals to Cut Bank’s Jess Elings by fall (4:22). After another bye in the consolation round, Padilla was set to compete for third place but was forced to medically forfeit, placing her fourth overall.

In the 130-pound bracket, Eva Carnell finished in eighth place. She lost her opening match but rebounded with an injury-default win over Lilybelle Buffalo of Arlee. Carnell then edged out Valier’s Jazmyn Ramos in a 2-1 decision before falling in the next round. In the seventh-place match, she was pinned by Jade Bailey of Manhattan (0:55), securing an eighth-place finish.

Arlee's Naugle second at Divisionals

The Arlee Scarlets had several high placers at the Western B/C Wrestling Divisional Tournament in Butte last weekend.

Leading the charge for Arlee was Anola Naugle (115 pounds), who put together an impressive run to claim second place in her bracket. Naugle began the tournament with a dominant showing, pinning Allie Park of Cascade in 2:47 during her opening match.

She continued her momentum in the quarterfinals, securing another fall over Cut Bank’s Kaida Kaquatosh in 1:50. The semifinal match saw Naugle display her technical prowess, winning by technical fall (20-2) over Cassidy Collins of Whitehall/Harrison. In the championship bout, she faced Ady Hoiland of Anaconda but fell via pin in 58 seconds, finishing as the runner-up.

Porter Pier (140) also delivered a strong performance, earning a fourth-place finish. Pier was pinned in the quarterfinal round by Shelby’s Kadence Montgomery but bounced back in the consolation bracket, earning a bye before pinning Logan Paddock of Darby in 4:47. Pier then faced a rematch against Montgomery in the third-place bout but was pinned again in 4:14.

At 145 pounds, Nizhoni Haynes secured a fifth-place finish with a series of hard-fought matches. After receiving a bye in the opening round, Haynes was pinned by Kyleigh Sivertsen of Cascade in the quarterfinals. She recovered in the consolation rounds, securing another bye before pinning Anaconda’s Macy Burnett in 1:50.

Despite falling to Mission/Charlo’s Olivia Carnell in the consolation semifinals, Haynes rebounded in the fifth-place match, pinning Charlotte Steele of Manhattan in just 58 seconds.
