Ronan’s offense and defense look top notch
Ronan’s offense was stellar, but its defense was equally the star in a 74-16 victory over Lake County rival Mission in non-league basketball action on Friday, Jan. 10. The Chiefs held the Bulldogs to single digit scoring in both the first and second half.
Kolby Finley hit nine shots, was 5-for-5 from the free-throw line and finished with 23 points and five rebounds. Sean Small added 11 points and four rebounds, while Chad Higgins had five rebounds and eight points. Ronan was 14-for-17 from the free throw line and had 12 steals as a team.
Ronan led 18-6 after one quarter and went on a 25-2 run to finish the half for a 43-8 advantage at the break. The Chiefs then opened up the second half with a 22-4 run.
Lex LaFrombois scored nine points for the Bulldogs, while Macklen McDonald had four points.
Ronan improved to 4-2 on the season while Mission fell to 2-5.
At St. Ignatius

Polson falls to Dillon
Dillon surged in the middle quarters and handed Polson a 70-38 Class A basketball loss on Saturday, Jan. 11. The Pirates were led by Malakai Curley’s 13 points, but couldn’t overcome the Beavers 40-17 run in the second and third quarters.
Polson trailed by six in first quarter, but Dillon went on a 23-9 run before halftime for a 40-20 lead at the break. The Beavers then opened the second half on a 17-8 run.
Kyson Michel added 11 points and four rebounds to the Pirates’ total. Curley had three three-pointers in the matchup.
Polson fell to 3-3 on the year with the loss.

Warriors stay undefeated
Arlee improved to 8-0 on the year, downing their local rival Mission 67-28 in Class B basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 11 on the Warriors’ home court.
Josh Horn led the Warriors with 15 points, while Lex LaFrombois led the Bulldogs with 11 points.
Arlee was ahead 17-8 after one quarter, and had 34-20 at halftime. The Warriors would close out the game on a 16-0 run in the fourth quarter.
Aiden Schwab had 13 points for Arlee, while Darius Teawaina and Kade Dix each had 10 points.
Jason Leishman added 10 points to the Bulldogs’ total.
Mission fell to 2-6 on the year with the loss.

Thompson Falls downs Mission
Mission opened up Western 7B basketball action with a 71-42 loss to Thompson Falls on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The Bulldogs played the Bluehawks evenly in the first half, only trailing 30-25, but Thompson Falls opened up the second half on an 18-9 run.
Lex LaFrombois led the Bulldogs with 26 points while Jason Leishman added five points.
Thompson Falls improved to 5-2 on the year with the victory.

Warriors take down Vikings
Former league rivals Arlee and Charlo battled again in nonleague action with the Warriors taking away an 81-48 victory on Friday, Jan. 10. Arlee opened up the game with a 25-9 run over the Vikings.
Strong starts were a theme for Arlee, which had a 41-23 lead at halftime and went on a 25-5 run to begin the second half.
Darius Tewawina led the Warriors with 20 points while Josh Horn and Kade Dix each added 13 points. Aiden Schwab scored 12 points and Damian Marceau notched 11.
Karsen Cox scored 26 points and Kenyan DuMont had 20 for Charlo.

Thompson Falls defeated Charlo 79-33 in nonleague basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 11 on the Bluehawks’ home court.
Charlo fell behind 36-9 in the first quarter, and Thompson Falls had a 62-21 lead at halftime.
Karsen Cox led the Vikings with 19 points and Kenyan DuMont scored seven.
Charlo dropped to 2-6 on the year with the loss.

After grabbing a 15-7 lead in the first quarter, then went on a 37-10 run in the second quarter.
Jayvian Burke led the Eagles with 20 points, while Thomas Addison scored 17. Kayson Gates notched 13 points.
Victor fell to 0-9 on the year with the loss.

Eagles fall to Valley Christian
A comeback by the Eagles came up short in a 62-58 loss to Valley Christian on Thursday, January 9. Trailing 48-40 going into the fourth quarter, Two Eagle outscored their opponent by four points in the final stanza, but couldn’t quite close the gap.
Talon Addison led the Eagles with 18 points, while Thomas Addison notched 17 points and Jayvian Burke had 16.
The Eagles fell to 2-2 in league play.
