Lake Monsters make a splash at Kalispell meet
The Lake Monsters swim team of Polson came in third as a whole and had several outstanding performances at the sanctioned meet in Kalispell on Jan. 26.
Special meet awards went to:
• Annie Kleinmeyer, named Swimmer of the Meet for setting five personal records in five events, completing her first 400 Individual Medley in 6.03.97 with aggressive pacing, making new A times in backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly and dropping 3.7 seconds in the 200 Butterfly in only two weeks to 3.07.34. The A times are set by USA Swimming, which establishes six levels of increasingly fast standards from B times to BB times to A times all the way up to AAAA times. An A time ranks that athlete in the top 15% in that event for her age group and gender nationwide.
• Audrey Hall, who received the Gargantuan Swim Award for her time of 1.44.32 in the 100m freestyle, a drop of 14.7 seconds for a 12% improvement.
• Joey Kinnick, who securing the Spirit award for “vociferous cheering from the ends and sides of the pool.”
Registering at least one Personal Record (PR) were swimmers Hailey Cottet, Gaelan Cummings, Cora Dumouchel, Sara Dumouchel, Zayda Dumouchel, Barkley Flynn, Audrey Hall, Avery Harriman, Hannah Harriman, Joey Kinnick, Thomas Kinnick, Annie Kleinmeyer, Gavin (Squid) Moore, Tenlie O'Roake and Ella Stall.
Recording new state cuts (time standards for state competition) were Hannah Harriman in the 200 freestyle, 2.22.11; Gavin (Squid) Moore, SO Butterfly, 30.18; and Audrey Hall in the 25m backstroke, 25.32, and 25m butterfly, 24.95.
