Mission girls defeat No. 2 team in state

Mission downed the No. 2-ranked team in the state 49-46, as Kieran Incashola drained a game-winning three-pointer off a pass from Kason Page against Loyola on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Kason Page led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points off seven buckets while also hauling in four rebounds, dishing out four assists, and nabbing four steals. Page crossed the 300-assists threshold for her career.

Mission led 20-13 after one quarter and then went into halftime with a 30-21 advantage. Loyola pulled to within 35-32 in the third quarter.

Cora Matt had 11 points and four steals, while Brooklyn McClure had nine points and five rebounds. Kieran Incashola also had nine points to go along with nine rebounds.

Loyola fell to 9-2 overall.

Mission takes down Superior; blasts past Plains

Mission improved to 8-4 on the year with a 49-32 Western 13C victory over Superior on Friday, Jan. 24, held Plains to eight points in the first half en route to a 63-19 Western 13C victory on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Against Superior, the Lady Bulldogs went on a 21-4 run in the second quarter and cruised to victory.

Mission’s Brooklyn McClure led the team with 11 points, while Kieran Incashola added 10 points and six rebounds.

After their big run in the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs led 30-8 at halftime.

Kason Page scored eight points, nine rebounds, five assists, and 11 steals. Cora Matt had seven points, seven rebounds and three steals. Matt crossed the 100-point threshold for the season and the 600-point scoring mark for her career. She also collected a block, the 50th of her career.

Superior fell to 5-6 on the year and 2-2 in league play. Mission improved to 5-2 in league play.

Last Thursday, Page led Mission with 16 points, six rebounds, five assists, and eight steals, while Incashola snagged 11 points and seven rebounds.

Mission led 13-4 after one quarter and 34-8 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs then ended the game on a 21-4 run in the fourth quarter.

Plains fell to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in league play.

Ronan drops first conference game to Browning

Ronan dropped its first conference game of the year, falling to Browning in Northwestern A play on Saturday, Jan. 25. Browning used a 19-5 run in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Kailyn Marengo and Natalee Adams led the Maidens with 11 points apiece, while Nevaeh Perez added eight points.

Browning led 27-24 before its big run in the third. Ronan then outscores the Lady Indians by five points in the fourth quarter.

Ronan fell to 6-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while Browning improved to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Maidens come back against Whitefish

Ronan outscored Whitefish 20-5 in the fourth quarter for a 45-38 Northwestern A Conference victory on Thursday, Jan. 23. Maddy Illig and Lauryn Buhr led the Maidens with eight points apiece.

Whitefish led Ronan 19-14 at halftime and the Lady Bulldogs increased their lead to eight points in the third quarter. Ally Luedtke corralled an offensive rebound and got a putback to put Ronan ahead in the fourth after a 36-36 tie.

Buhr hit two free throws, while Marengo notched a front-end free throw to put the Maidens up 41-36. Buhr then hit a two-pointer, nudging the Maidens to 43-36 before both teams traded brackets down the stretch.

Whitefish fell to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play with the loss.

Lady Pirates fall to Bigfork, defeat Libby

Polson fell to Northwestern A Conference power Bigfork 66-26 on the road on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Rylee Taylor-Jefferson led the Lady Pirates with 13 points.

Bigfork opened the game on an 18-1 run and notched a 25-6 run in the third quarter.

It was Polson’s first conference loss of the season, but the Lady Pirates defeated Libby 49-36 to improve to 5-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

Charlo topples Hot Springs

Charlo came back against Hot Springs for the 50-48 victory in Western 13C basketball action on Saturday on Jan. 25. The victory improved Charlo’s league record to 5-1 and 9-2 on the year.

The Lady Vikings led 21-17 at halftime, but Hot Springs took a 34-31 lead in the third quarter. Charlo outscored the Lady Savage Heat by five points in the fourth for the victory.

GG Hawk scored 14 points for the Lady Vikings, while Maizey McDonald had 12 points. Brielle Zempel and Seeley McDonald each added nine points apiece.

Hot Springs fell to 9-4 on the year.

Two Eagle falls to St. Regis

Two Eagle fell to St. Regis 56-32 in Western 13C play, falling to 2-10 on the season.

St. Regis had a five-point lead in the first quarter and 23-15 advantage at halftime. The Lady Tigers also finished off the game on a 21-10 run.

Layla Tenas led the Lady Eagles with nine points, while Dayani Piapot had six points.

St. Regis improved to 5-6 on the season with the win.
