| July 3, 2025 12:00 AM

The Lake County Conservation District selected Hot Springs High School senior Nick McAllister as the recipient of its annual scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior demonstrating a strong interest in conservation, natural resources or agriculture.

McAllister has an impressive record of academic and extracurricular accomplishments. Throughout his academic career, he has consistently demonstrated the qualities the conservation district seeks to foster. Citing his innovative use of drone technology in agricultural settings, the scholarship committee described him as "a young man capable of adapting to many different situations and finding something positive, interesting and/or motivating in each.”

Beyond academics, McAllister has been deeply involved in the agricultural community, participating in Future Farmers of America (FFA) as well as events and projects that promote sustainability and awareness in the local community. His commitment to agriculture is matched by his enthusiasm for sports, earning awards in football, basketball and track, and a variety of hobbies that reflect his adventurous and diverse nature.

Looking ahead, McAllister plans to attend Montana State University-Northern, where he’ll pursue a degree in Agricultural Tech.
