Linda Werdin, 84
Linda Dee (Roseleip) Werdin, 84, passed away on June 30, 2025, in the hospital in Lewistown, Mont., after entering an assisted living facility in October 2024.
Following her wishes, there will be no funeral ceremony except a remembrance ceremony and interment next Memorial Day at Pleasant View Cemetery in St. Ignatius. Cremation took place under the direction of Creel Funeral Home.
Linda was born Nov. 15, 1940, to Robert Libert and Zada Marie (Wunderwald) Roseleip in St. Ignatius. After graduating from St. Ignatius High School in 1958, she studied at Concordia College in Portland, Ore., before transferring to Concordia Teachers College (now University) in River Forest, Ill.
There, she earned her degree, met her future husband, David T. Werdin, and taught elementary school in Illinois and Missouri for seven years before returning to Montana.
Linda and Dave poured their lives into teaching children (including their two sons) in St. Ignatius from 1969 to 2002, and were very active in the community. She frequently substitute taught and volunteered at the schools while raising her sons and then returned to teaching full-time in 1983.
After retirement in 2002, Linda moved to Lewistown with her husband to be near their grandsons and to enjoy the second part of their lives, woodcarving and volunteering at the school, hospital and Art Center.
She was an incredible mother, grandmother and teacher, and could start up conversations with anyone. She often said that she had been blessed by so many things, but we were blessed to have her, and she will be missed immensely.
Linda is survived by sons Monty (Sue) Werdin of Lewistown and Mark (Atsuko) Werdin of Nagano, Japan; as well as by grandsons Cole Werdin of Missoula, Cody (Danee) Werdin of Lewistown, Cooper Werdin of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Kai Werdin of Nagano, Japan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her older brother, Robert Roseleip Jr.
Arrangements are under the care of Creel Funeral Home. Linda’s family and friends may share memories and condolences at creelfuneralhome.com.
