Polson Seniors: Safe driving course on July 29

AARP Safe Driving Course is July 29, 9:30-1:30. Early sign-up requested. We have about a dozen more openings: no testing, video-assisted, informal discussions and take-home study guide. Cost is $25 and $20 For AARP members. You can get a substantial discount from your insurance company for completing this course. Limited enrollment.

Traffic on highway 93 through Polson now takes over 30 minutes for the four-mile journey. Be patient. Plan. Stay awake. Be aware. Drive safely.

If you are over 50 and desire to expand your comfort zone, we have a great opportunity to awaken, supplement, and expand your experiences by serving the Polson Senior Community Center in a leadership position. Nominations (yes, you can nominate yourself), are now being accepted. Call or visit.

Sit-down meals are available from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays, and delivered to qualified people who call before 10 a.m. A suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program.

Upcoming main dishes include: pork chops, Thursday, July 17; egg strata with blueberries, Friday, July 18; chili-mac soup, Monday, July 21; chicken pot pie, Tuesday, July 22; taco-Catalina salad, Wednesday, July 23; Chicago dogs, Thursday, July 24; and baked ham, Friday, July 25.

Bowling “no-tap” is Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m. Join any time.

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (move it or lose it!); bingo at 6 p.m. Fridays, with playing card bingo on the first Wednesday of each month.

Pinochle is now offered two days a week: 12:15-3 p.m. Mondays or Thursdays; and the pool table is open for play 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays.

The Spinning Wheelers meet on the first Tuesday of each month (July 1) from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.; call 208-520-1013.

Invite a foursome for Wednesday Play Day to play cards, board games, dominos, mahjong, etc.

A veteran’s service officer visits the center on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month.
