Bishop Goes to Washington

In answer to a personal invitation from President Jimmy Carter, Bill Bishop of Polson participated recently in a meeting with some of Carter's senior advisors of both foreign and domestic affairs.

The all-day session in White House executive offices included a buffet luncheon and informal session with several prominent heads of government. Listed on the program agenda were such people as G. William Miller, Secretary of the Treasury; Dr. John Sawhill, Deputy Secretary of Energy, and Alfred Kahn, advisor to the President on inflation.

Bishop was among a select group of western state business leaders invited to participate.

"On behalf of the President, I thank you for your participation in the meeting," Sarah Weddington, assistant to the President, wrote to Bishop after the session.

"Your suggestions offered were particularly helpful and aided in broadening the perspective of the presidential assistants."

Bishop said it was a wonderful opportunity to express some of his views on a number of national issues.
