Our Board of Directors is searching for candidates to serve the membership of Polson Senior Center. We need your support in a leadership position. Terms begin end of July.

Although we are currently in good standing with the Council on Aging, the federal government is serious about cutting nutrition budgets from schools, meals on wheels, senior citizens centers, food assistance programs, etc. Help us.

Saturday, June 14, is Flag Day. It is not an official federal holiday. On Aug. 3, 1949, Congress approved setting June 14 as Flag Day and Harry Truman signed it into law. Display the flag; a little one decorating your window or a big one in your yard.

Bowling “no-tap” is Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m. Join any time.

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (move it or lose it!); bingo at 6 p.m. Fridays, with playing card bingo on the first Wednesday of each month.

Pinochle is now offered two days a week: 12:15-3 p.m. Mondays or Thursdays; and the pool table is open for play 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays.

The Spinning Wheelers meet on the first Tuesday of each month (May 6) from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.; call 208-520-1013.

Invite a foursome for Wednesday Play Day to play cards, board games, dominos, mah-jong, etc.

A veteran’s service officer visits the center on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month.

Sit-down meals are available from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays, and delivered to qualified people who call before 10 a.m. A suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program.

Upcoming main dishes include: pork BBQ ribs, Thursday, June 5; sausage, biscuit, gravy, Friday, June 6; split pea soup, Monday, June 9; pork chops, Tuesday, June 10; chicken enchiladas, Wednesday, June 11; sweet/sour meatballs, Thursday, June 12; and baked fish, Friday, June 13.

Our community center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at 504 Third Ave. E. For more information, call 406-883-4735, email polsonseniorcenter@gmail.com or visit us on Facebook.
