After a lengthy absence, Ronan is jumping back into the Fourth of July fray this year with a community celebration that includes fireworks.

Co-promoter Corey Kamarainen says Ronan's fireworks display was among the “most missed events” listed in this year’s Best of Lake County contest, sponsored by the Lake County Leader.

The fireworks display returns to the Ronan City Park at dusk July 4, courtesy of the Second Chance Saloon.

Also on tap are games for kids and families, including cornhole, horseshoes, yard-size versions of Connect Four and Tetris, water games and tabletop tennis, beginning at 4 p.m. The Missoula band Shodown will perform from 7-10 p.m., and Late Night Jukebox takes over after the fireworks.

Kamarainen promises “your favorite Fourth of July foods” will also be available.

He urges people to attend one of the three parades in Lake County – held in Charlo, Polson and Arlee – before heading to Ronan for evening festivities.

“Ronan has been without fireworks or community events on the Fourth of July for many years,” he says. “We’re looking to make this an annual event, so spread the word, bring your crew, and let's celebrate freedom.”
