Tentative trial date set for three cases

Judge John Mercer set a tentative trial date of July 7 for three separate matters last Thursday.

A St. Ignatius man is accused of breaking into a St. Ignatius residence twice in January. Gentry Brown, 27, pleaded not guilty in District Court in Polson Feb. 27 to two counts of felony burglary.

The charging documents indicate 15 firearms were taken. The incident was allegedly captured on video surveillance, yet Brown gave investigators conflicting accounts as to what happened to the firearms.

Also on Feb. 27, Jonathon Michael Thorne, 30, entered a plea of not guilty to aggravated assault. Thorne allegedly punched another man in the face on July 15, 2024, in Ronan. The victim suffered several fractured facial bones.

Also last Thursday, Glenn Alan Jorgenson, 68, entered a plea of not guilty in District Court to four counts of sexual assault, all allegedly involving girls under the age of 16, and in the Ronan area.

According to Judge Mercer, the trial date of July 7 is subject to change due to a training event for prosecutors that week.

Thorne and Jorgenson are at liberty, while Brown is being held without bond.
