Two Eagle wins play-in game, but drops two tourney contests
Two Eagle River opened its Western C Divisional Tournament with a dominant performance against Twin Bridges in the play-in game on Monday, Feb. 27, securing an 83-66 victory and advancing to the main bracket.
The Eagles came out firing, outscoring the Falcons 25-12 in the first quarter behind what would turn into an electric performance from Talon Addison, who led the way with 26 points. Rhiley Gates added 18, while Kayson Gates chipped in 17.
Two Eagle controlled the pace throughout, maintaining a double-digit lead despite a strong effort from Twin Bridges’ Hunter Turk, who led all scorers with 24 points.
Flint Janzen was a force inside for the Falcons, recording a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to slow down Two Eagle’s balanced attack. The Eagles closed the game on a strong note, posting a 24-point fourth quarter to seal the win.
St. Regis hands Two Eagle first loss
Facing top-seeded St. Regis in Western C Divisional Tournament action in Butte, Two Eagle put up a fight but ultimately fell 69-51.
The Eagles matched the Tigers early, with both teams tied at 19 after the first quarter. However, St. Regis took control in the second period, outscoring Two Eagle 15-6 to build a lead they would not relinquish.
Javian Burke led the Eagles with 15 points, while Talon Addison added 13. LaSean BigDay contributed nine points off the bench.
However, St. Regis’ depth proved too much, with Conner Lulis dropping 20 points and Hunter Stolla adding 17.
West Yellowstone ends Two Eagle’s season
After dropping to the Western C Consolation bracket, two Eagle faced off against West Yellowstone on Friday, Feb. 28. Struggling to maintain their early momentum, the Eagles fell 55-46 in a hard-fought contest that ended their season.
The Eagles got off to a strong start, leading 18-11 after the first quarter. However, White Yellowstone responded with a powerful 19-8 second quarter to take a halftime lead. Noa Flores was unstoppable for the Wolverines, pouring in a game-high 23 points, while Damian Ramales added 19.
Two Eagle River tried to rally in the second half, with Rhiley Gates leading the way in the game with 12 points and Javian Burke adding 10. But West Yellowstone’s defense tightened in the final quarter, holding the Eagles to just eight points and securing the victory.
The Eagles finished the year 13-13.
