Tim Bruner, 84
James Timothy Bruner, age 84, of Hockley, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at his home. He was born Feb. 5, 1941, in Weldon, Texas, to parents Jessie Lee Bruner and Oma Sephronia Shaw Bruner.
On June 5, 1959, Tim went to work for Keystone Valve in Houston as a machinist; he was later promoted to running the shipping department for several years.
When Keystone built a new shop on Hwy. 290 near Jersey Village, he became supervisor of the large valve department for the water and wastewater industry. Tim helped develop and design the 96-inch water valves for municipal water and was an inspector for the valves made there for the nuclear submarines.
He retired in April of 1994; Joyce followed suit six years later. They spent the next 23 years being “Snowbirds,” living half the year in Montana and half the year in Texas.
Tim was a Grand Master Mason with Fairbanks Masonic Lodge #1363 AF & AM in Houston, Texas, for 50 years and one of the directors of the Big Arm Association from 2006-2024.
Tim is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joyce of Hockley, Texas; sons Dirk Bruner and wife Donneda of Riverview, Fla., Neal Bruner of Pearland, Texas, David Bruner and wife Shirley of Lakeside, Mont., and Kevin Denner and wife Ali of Porter, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Francis Whitmire of Trinity, Texas, Nell Tinder of Houston, Texas, and Marian Machac of Weldon, Texas; brother Joe Bruner of Crockett, Texas; and numerous other loving relatives and friends, including being “adopted father” to Jody Lemons and Cecil Chapmon.
Tim was proceeded in death by parents Jessie and Oma Bruner; sister Wanda Worley and husband, Bob; brothers-in-law Jack Whitmire, George Machac and Phillip Noski; and grandson Raymond Bruner.
Funeral Services for James Timothy Bruner will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at Weldon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Whit Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in Weldon Cemetery.
