Sheryl Ann (Knudsen) Kain
February 15, 1963 – March 16, 2025
Sheryl Ann Kain passed away early Sunday, March 16, 2025. True to her nature, she gave her battle with cancer everything she had, facing it with the same strength, resilience and determination that defined her life.
Born on Feb. 15, 1963, to Clifford and Betty (Borden) Knudsen, Sheryl grew up on a dairy farm in Charlo. Life on the farm shaped her into the strong, independent woman so many knew and loved. If something needed done, Sheryl would roll up her sleeves and figure it out – a lesson that carried into every part of her life.
Sheryl dedicated much of her life to supporting young athletes. She coached basketball and volleyball at Charlo Schools, where many alumni still call her Coach Kain. She never stopped supporting her athletes, and the wisdom she shared continues to shine through in many of their lives today.
Sheryl spent most of her latest years supporting her grandkids, picking huckleberries, tending her garden, and spending countless hours fixing and managing her property in Noxon.
She loved her grandchildren and was their biggest fan. She could always be found in the stands cheering them on or encouraging them to pursue their passions.
Sheryl was a loving mom, grandma, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. She valued her friends and family above all else, and her impact on all of us will never be forgotten.
Sheryl is survived by her three children, five siblings, and eight grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, former players, and friends who will miss her dearly.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life on July 19 at 2 p.m. at Leon Hall in Charlo, Montana. We invite everyone to join us to share stories, laughter, and celebrate the remarkable life of our mom.
