Brett McCrumb, 61

Brett Thomas McCrumb of Polson arrived in his final Home with Jesus on May 7, 2025. He dealt with a cancer diagnosis over a year ago with courage. He tried treatments and health regimes that would help, but he always relied on the attitude and truth of “I know where I’m going.”

He was born in Lansing, Mich., to Lucy and Dennis McCrumb. They moved to Montana when he was a young child with his two younger sisters, Darcie and Dawn. 

The family worked the land as a self-reliant lifestyle in the earlier years. Brett helped with responsibilities early on with chores that included milking a cow before and after school. The family worked together planting gardens, putting up food for winter, and raising animals. 

Brett valued the discipline that forged his future in construction. Brett worked in a family business for more than 30 years.

Dearest Brett, our loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather, has joined God’s family surrounded by his loving family. He left us with genuine, committed, generous, strong, charitable, and a loyal initiative of love for family, faith, community and even strangers. 

His achievements brought beauty and structure to Polson. When you examine the life of any God-loving individual, you soon discover an entire connection to super people, gifted in their own rights, content to play their part in life. 

A measure of a man’s worth is how much he would be worth if he lost all of his money. Brett had compassion and kindness to people in need.

Brett and Pam met at an early age and were married for 40 years. Brett was the spiritual leader of his house, valuing God and family. During that blessed relationship, three sons were born, Olin, Stefan and Dylan. 

As a family, they enjoyed many adventures including coaching little guy baseball and football, camp trips, elk-hunting pack trips, mountain bike racing, bow shoots, white water kayaking, triathlons, boating, skiing, church and mission trips, winter ski mountain camping, fishing, and raising animals were among the favorites. 

One of Brett’s deep-rooted goals as a father was to consider raising future husbands and fathers. He’s cherished two daughters-in-laws, Dylen and Kirsten, and six grandchildren.

I wanted a husband that loved all our children, and he did. He can never be replaced, but then, he will always be with us. 

His Celebration of Life is Monday, May 19, 2025, at 11 a.m. at his parents’ place, The Barn at Finley Point, with a cemetery burial to follow. Messages of condolences may be shared with the family online at lakefuneralhomeandcremation.com.
