LAKE COUNTY JOINT AIRPORT BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED The Lake County Commissioners are seeking letters of interest to serve on the Lake County Joint Airport Board. This Board pays the bills of the three airports in Lake County and directs the fixed base operators for the airports and plans for the future of the airports. Meetings are held once a month on the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Ronan Airport. The Board of Commissioners will accept letters of interest to serve on this Board until May 27, 2025. Letters should be addressed to the Commissioners at 106 4th Ave. East, Polson, MT 59860. PUBLIC NOTICE: The Board of Commissioners of Lake County will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 3:00 pm for the purpose of taking public comment on the resolution listed below. For more information, please contact the Commissioner’s Office at 406-883-7204 RESOLUTION NO. 25-22 RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO ABANDON A PORTION OF COUNTY ROAD LOCATED IN Section 5, T19N, R20W, IN AN UNINCORPORATED AREA OF LAKE COUNTY WHEREAS, the Lake County Commission has received a petition styled “Petition to Abandon County Road,” seeking the abandonment of a portion of a county road located in Section 5, T19N, R20W, and more particularly described as follows: A fractional part of the NE4SW4, Section 5, T19N, R20W, consisting of a strip of right-of-way 10 feet in width, the center line of said 10 foot strip being described as follows, to wit: Beginning at a point on the subdivision line 157 feet West of the northeast corner of the NE4SW4, of said Section 5, thence S. 0 degrees 20 minutes East 532.5 feet to the intersection of the Northern Pacific Rwy. right of way. Containing 0.122of an acre, more or less; And, WHEREAS, Title 7, Chapter 14, Part 26 of the Montana Codes provides the procedure in such circumstances, and, WHEREAS, the county may not issue an effective order abandoning the county road unless the same is preceded by notice and public hearing, in conformance with 7-14-2615(2), MCA; and, WHEREAS, the roadway above-described does not provide access to public lands, public recreational use lands, or to recreational water; and is otherwise in conformance with all requirements of Section 7-14-2602 of the Montana Codes; and, WHEREAS, the subject Petition was executed by the Clerk and Recorder’s Office of Lake County, reflecting that the subject county roadway has long since been overlain by the MDOT State Highway 212, that the trace of State Highway 212 is owned in fee by Montana Department of Transportation, that there is therefore no further need for the said county road as it is indistinguishable from and all access provided by the said State Highway 212, that there are no adjoining landowners whose consent is necessary, and that it is in the public’s interest that the relevant Lake County records are purged of extraneous and needless records; and, WHEREAS, if the petition therefor is granted, the abandonment, if granted, shall not affect the right of any public utility to continue to maintain its plant and equipment in the roadway. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That Lake County intends to abandon the above-described road, subject to the reservations of law, granting the said Petition to Abandon, subject to the public hearing required by law; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Lake County Commission will take up consideration of the subject Petition and hold public hearing thereon at its meeting on the 4th day of June, 2025, at 3:00 pm, in the Commissioners Chambers and that notice thereof and of the Commission’s intention be published pursuant to Section 7-1-2121 of the Montana Codes. NOTICE FOR PUBLIC HEARING LAKE COUNTY HEARING TO ASSESS AND PRIORITIZE NEEDS The Lake County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 20 at 2:00 PM in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room at 106 4th Avenue East, Polson, MT 59860. The purpose of this hearing is to obtain public comments regarding what they perceive as the priority needs to be addressed by the County for public facilities, infrastructure, affordable housing, economic development and other community revitalization efforts. For municipalities and/or sewer/water districts, and organizations considering applications for funding to the Montana Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG), which provides funding for projects serving predominantly low-moderate income persons, this hearing may serve as the required “first public hearing” as needed to assess and document local project needs. Those considering such projects are encouraged to attend as the County is the required applicant for unincorporated towns and districts. Copies of minutes will be provided for documentation. The Information gathered will also be used by the County’s regional community and economic development partner, Mission West Community Development Partnership (MWCDP), formerly Lake County Community Development, in their efforts to record the needs as voiced by the public for input into its regional 5-year Economic Development Strategic Plan. Information will be provided on how to access various funding programs which may be available for public facilities, infrastructure, affordable/attainable housing and economic/business development, etc.. At the public hearing, everyone will be given the opportunity to express their opinions regarding Lake County’s needs and the types of projects that should be considered and supported by the Commission. Comments may be given orally at the hearing or submitted in writing to Lake County Commissioners, 106 4th Avenue East, Polson, MT 59860 or by email to lakecommissioners@lakemt.gov. Written, specific project requests should be submitted no later than May 19 at 5:00 PM to be entered into the public record.
