Birthday Dinner on May 23 brings the good stuff: roast beef and cake!

The Greek goddess of spring was named Maia. The May full moon was on the 12th. Many cultures called it the flower moon, the hare moon, or the milk moon. See? You’re not too old to learn something new!  

My grandpappy liked moonshine; he told me so. I like the moon too. 

The center is closed Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day. Mourn and honor deceased men and women of the armed forces.

This is the time to get those plants growing. When you get tired, come and relax at the Senior Center. We have a lot going on here.

Bowling “no-tap” is Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m. Join any time. Other activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (move it or lose it!); bingo at 6 p.m. Fridays, with playing card bingo on the first Wednesday of each month.

Pinochle is now offered two days a week: 12:15-3 p.m. Mondays or Thursdays; and the pool table is open for play 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. 

The Spinning Wheelers meet on the first Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.; call 208-520-1013.

Invite a foursome for Wednesday Play Day to play cards, board games, dominos, mah-jong, etc.

A veteran’s service officer visits the center on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month.

Sit-down meals are available from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays, and delivered to qualified people who call before 10 a.m. A suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program.

Upcoming main dishes include: beef enchiladas, Thursday, May 15; pizza, Friday, May 16; beef vegetable soup, Monday, May 19; chicken strips, Tuesday, May 20; Swedish meat balls, Wednesday, May 21; and pigs in a blanket, Thursday, May 22.
