MAC Softball punches ticket to State

The Mission-Arlee-Charlo softball team secured its spot at the Class B state tournament with two strong wins and one tough loss at the Western B/C Divisional tournament in Florence, improving its season record to 19-6.

MAC opened the tournament with a dominant 13-2 victory over Anaconda on Thursday, May 15. The Bulldogs scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back, ending the game early in five innings. GG Hawk led the offensive charge with two hits, including a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored. Jada Domebo added two hits while Maddy Hanken drove in four runs off three hits. Kieran Incashola pitched a complete game, allowing just two runs on one hit with three strikeouts.

On Friday, May 16, MAC battled back from an early deficit to edge out Three Forks 5-4 in a tightly contested game. The Bulldogs trailed 4-1 entering the fourth inning but used a two-run frame and a pair of runs in the fifth to take the lead for good. Domebo had a strong day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while GG Hawk added a two-hit effort. Domebo also pitched four innings, allowing four runs, before Incashola came in to close out the final three innings and pick up the win by allowing no runs.

In Saturday’s divisional final, MAC ran into a powerful Florence-Carlton team and fell 13-3 in five innings. The Bulldogs scored all three of their runs in the third inning, after Florence had built a 6-0 lead. They scored seven in the fifth to end the game early.

Hawk, Alecia Steele, Incashola and Cronk had hits in the loss, with Steele hitting a double.

Despite the setback, MAC’s two wins were enough to clinch a berth at the Class B state tournament, where the Bulldogs will look to continue their strong season. The team now holds a 19-6 overall record heading into the final week of the year.
