Polson music students earn superior ratings at state festival

Several members of the Polson High School Band and Choir received Superior ratings at the State Music Festival, May 2-3 in Missoula.

Band 

Superior Solos: David DiGiallonardo, trumpet; Sabra Nichol, trumpet, Elizabeth Cunningham, bass clarinet; Haislea Sternick, flute; Miles Fegel, snare; and Roman Sawyer, tuba

Excellent Solos: Amy Thoft, marimba

Superior Ensembles: PHS Clarinet Choir, Mackinzi Bartel, Aiden Davis, Elizabeth Cunningham, Alexa Kinaman, Kaleb Tryon and Rayleen Wadsworth; PHS Flute Quartet, Daisy Anderson, Analeigh Bryant, Allyson Lamphere and Haislea Sternick.

Superior Solos: Nevaeh Silva, Dixie Montgomery and Truman Sawyer

Excellent solos: Aidan Franklin, Ayden Loveless, Bethany Butler, Inara Nicol, Annalyse Lozar and Abigail Kunz.

Excellent ensembles: Montgomery/Venters, Dixie Montgomery and Dominic Venters; PHS Mixed Trio, Dixie Montgomery, Dominic Venters and Adin Hunt; PHS Upper Ensemble, Nevaeh Silva, Ayden Loveless, Truman Sawyer, Dominic Venters and Corben Carlson.

"I was very pleased with the student performances this year as they were very successful musically and the ratings showed that," said PHS band director Richard Sawyer. "The adjudication was top notch at the State Music Festival, which was hosted by Great Falls Public Schools for the first time."
