The Ronan Maidens’ softball season came to a close Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 loss to Stevensville in a Class A state tournament play-in game.

Despite a strong effort from pitcher Kailyn Marengo, Ronan struggled to generate offense against a steady Yellowjackets team that capitalized on key opportunities and Ronan’s miscues.

Stevensville jumped ahead early with a run in the top of the first, then added another in the third before a decisive four-run fourth inning extended the lead to 6-0. The Yellowjackets tacked on an insurance run in the sixth and held Ronan scoreless the rest of the way.

The Maidens had difficulty stringing together hits, managing just three on the day. Autumn Lozeau doubled for Ronan’s only extra-base hit, while Adrienne Crockett and KaNana Couture each added singles. Despite putting runners on base, Ronan couldn’t push any across home plate.

Marengo pitched a complete game, going seven innings and allowing nine hits and seven runs—only one of which was earned. She struck out five and walked two in a performance that kept Ronan in the game despite defensive challenges. The Maidens committed nine errors, which played a significant role in Stevensville's ability to extend innings and plate unearned runs.

The loss ends Ronan’s season with a 10-9 overall record. The Maidens showed consistent effort throughout the year and earned a postseason berth, marking a season of growth and competitive play in a tough conference.
