St. Ignatius Seniors: Balance is important for health and safety

As we age, balance is important for health and safety. Decrease in balance can lead to falls, injuries and reduced independence.

One exercise to help improve balance is, while standing at the kitchen sink or counter, to stand on one leg using the counter for support, hold for 5-10 seconds then switch legs. Gradually increase the duration. Also, while walking, pay attention to good posture, and stepping with a “heel to toe” motion and avoid shuffling your feet.

Next bingo date is June 14 – we hope to see you there.
