Chase Jordan, 14 months, enjoys the taste of a chair while other diners enjoy a delicious dinner of beef brisket, pulled pork, coleslaw, beans and pies at a Hope for Haiti benefit dinner last Friday night. Held at the Ronan Community Center and sponsored by the Mission Valley Mennonite Youth, the event draw approximately 230 people and raised $2600, according to Travis Jordan. All donated proceeds will be donated to Christian Disaster Relief, a group that is building and erecting tents in Haiti. All materials for the event were paid out of pocket, Jordan said, meaning all money raised will go to the project. A community member from St. Ignatius spoke at the event about his recent trip to Haiti, where he spent a week helping the displaced citizens of the devasted country.
