St. Ignatius hosts annual Amish School Auction

This year’s Mission Valley Consignment Auction was greeted by a bright, sunny day. Despite the near record temperature, somewhere in the 90’s, auction lovers from all over the valley as well as from other states swarmed to St. Ignatius for the 15th annual auction held Saturday, July 8. The annual auction is a fundraiser with all proceeds benefitting the Mission Valley Amish Christian School. Everything from antiques to hay, to tack to pullets, to furniture, to quilts, to flowers, to buildings were up for sale in three auction rings. Large tents were set up to protect both wares and people and enormous fans helped cool the interiors of the tents. A few vendors sold artwork and other items while the Amish ladies sold their famous BBQ chicken dinners, homemade pies and ice cream. The ice cream was being made right on the grounds as generators kept the machines churning. People came and went all day long looking for treasures and many went home with prized items. Both the day and the auction were red hot!
