William C. Hocker passed away peacefully at home in Ronan, surrounded by family, on May 29, 2024, at 7:43 a.m. of natural causes at 100 years of age. A public memorial service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Ronan Community Center with Chaplain Zimmerman officiating.

At the Ronan City Council meeting on Dec. 18, City Clerk Kaylene Melton reported on her conversations with other city clerks in Montana regarding a special improvement district such as the one proposed for a development by Mark Drinkwater.

Dee Ann Hogge Crofoot, 76, of Salmon, Idaho, passed away peacefully in the presence of family June 17, 2024, in Rexburg. The funeral services will be held Monday, June 24, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hwy. 28 building (91 ID-28 Salmon, Idaho).

Polson High School principal Andy Fors will be changing jobs July 1 when he steps into the role of superintendent of School District 23. Mike Cutler, who joined the district in 2021, is retiring at the end of the school year.

Bill advances to enhance support for school infrastructure
House Bill 515, which hit the House floor April 4, calls for a one-time transfer of $75 million from the General Fund surplus to a special school facilities trust in order to elevate annual interest earnings.

The Polson School Board tackled some major issues at their meeting Monday, including the vote to realign classes at Cherry Valley and Linderman elementary schools and Polson Middle School in the 2025-’26 school year, and to add three new classrooms at Cherry Valley.
