Man pleads not guilty to hit-and-run
POLSON — An Arlee man pleaded not guilty to five felony charges for his role in a hit-and-run that injured four people in Charlo last month.
Dayton man gets eighth DUI
POLSON — After getting caught by the Montana State Highway Patrol for his eighth DUI, a 49-year-old Dayton man was sentenced to five years in jail in Lake County District Court last Wednesday. After another vehicle was nearly hit by his driving, Randolph Nigg was approached by officers in the driveway of his residence and failed numerous intoxication tests while blowing a .194 on a breathalyzer.

State to finalize Flathead Lake no-wake zone proposal

Alleged drug dealers in court
POLSON — Two men appeared in Lake County District Court hearings during the past week on felony drug charges generated by cases investigated by the Montana Northwest Drug Task Force.

Haiti benefit dinner
Held at the Ronan Community Center and sponsored by the Mission Valley Mennonite Youth, the dinner drew approximately 230 people and raised $2,600, according to Travis Jordan. All donated proceeds will go to Christian Disaster Relief, a group that is building and erecting tents in Haiti. All materials for the event were paid out of pocket, Jordan said, meaning all money raised will go to the project. A community member from St. Ignatius spoke at the event about his recent trip to Haiti, where he spent a week helping the displaced citizens of the devastated country.
Runkel pleads guilty to lesser charge on assault case
Kyler M. Runkel, 21, of Ronan pleaded guilty to felony criminal endangerment, a reduced felony offense to his original charge of sexual assault of 13-year-old girl.

Rural District petition essential to positive change
I am writing to express my appreciation of the democratic process in our community. Through grass roots efforts several concerned citizens rallied to request, by petition, that the Polson Rural Fire District make positive changes. The request follows the resignation of over 12 volunteer firefighters from the rural fire district – many of those with the most experience, many of those in officer positions, many of those who responded to most in our department (over several decades). We all hope for a just resolution.
Drive-by suspect pleads not guilty
POLSON — The first person charged in last month’s drive-by shootings in Pablo appeared in district court last week, as 20-year-old Francis Burke, Jr. pled not guilty to four felonies, including two counts of assault with a weapon, criminal endangerment, and criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
