Legislative session in full swing
The hustle and bustle of the Legislature is in full swing. We are busy in committees from 8 a.m. until as late as 6 p.m. some days. Our house floor sessions run from 1 p.m. to 2:30 -3:30 p.m. daily. Bills are coming through to the House floor from the Senate as well as our house bills are being read in the Senate floor now. We have acted on bills on the house floor ranging from gun laws to water rights, title insurance to bicycle rules.
Highlights from Helena, Mar. 21 - Rep. Dan Salomon
It is budget week in the Montana House of Representatives. We will be debating and voting on House Bill 2, which determines the General Fund budget for the state for the next two years.
Capitol letters
The highlight of my week was meeting a large group of local Republican women and their spouses who travelled to the Capitol to observe us at work. They hosted a dinner and sack lunch for us and sat through committee meetings and House and Senate sessions. I really appreciate your time and effort!

Hello again from Helena. My three committees (Agriculture, Education and Business and Labor) held few hearings this week. But the time was taken up by long lists of Senate bills each day to receive action on the House floor. Since these bills needed previous positive votes on the Senate floor and in House committees, most required little debate and received positive votes on their way to the Governor.

Voters to decide Arlee bond
ARLEE — The Arlee School District will ask voters for help this November to raise funds for school improvement projects, and school officials will outline more details at a meeting tonight (Aug. 17) to give voters a better idea of repair projects needed around the district.

The stimulus package is still on everyone’s mind. Senate Finance and Claims held a hearing last week to allow everyone to give their opinions on how the money should be spent. Most of the money is designated for specific programs, like $200 million for highways and roads. Montana will get to decide how about $200 million of the $800 million we will receive should be spent.
