Calvert faces charges
THOMPSON FALLS — The preliminary hearing for Nathan Lee William Calvert scheduled for Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. at the Sanders County Justice Court was vacated because charges against Calvert were brought forth by Sanders County Attorney Robert Zimmerman.
Council discusses property “islands”
Before the meeting on Dec.15, Ronan City Council members and Mayor Chris Adler interviewed community members who had written letters of interest in Calvin Hardy’s seat on the council. Hardy and Lindsey Myers are the two representatives of Ward 2, and Hardy’s term ends Dec. 31. During the meeting, Public Works Director Dan Miller brought up “islands” of county property surrounded by city subdivisions and/or city streets.
Final suspect caught
POLSON - Tuesday evening brought to a conclusion a measured process of rounding up four suspected murderers, all of whom were serving prison time on separate charges.

At 1: 48 a.m., Jason Alan DeShazer pulled up next to a parked Sheriff’s cruiser and asked if the cop needed help just before that officer arrested DeShazer for felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and misdemeanor criminal possession of dangerous drug paraphernalia Sept. 13, according to a Lake County Court affidavit.

Ronan man arraigned on felony sex crimes
POLSON — Robert Deneault appeared via closed circuit television in Judge Wall’s justice court Friday to be arraigned on charges of sexual intercourse without consent and sexual assault, both felonies. Deneault, 41, pleaded not guilty to the charges, each of which carries a maximum penalty of $50,000 fine, 100 years to life in prison, and payment of restitution.

POLSON — A 49-year-old Polson man was arraigned on charges of solicitation and sexual acts on a 21-year-old woman and pleaded not guilty in Lake County District Court on Thursday. Nathan Whitefountain faces up to 100 years in jail and fines of $100,000 after he allegedly asked the victim for sex and performed a sex act on her without her permission.
