Ski resort adds improvements to Summit House
WHITEFISH, MT – April 8, 2015 – Whitefish Mountain Resort’s commitment to improving the guest experience will be taken to new heights this summer as the ski area plans to invest over $1.2 million in improvements at the summit of the Big Mountain pending approval from the U.S. Forest Service. A proposed one million dollar renovation to the Summit House would add seating to the restaurant, restrooms to the main floor and renovate the exterior of the building with a new façade. The resort also plans to build a new ski patrol headquarters building at the summit. If approved, this would be the third consecutive summer of major construction which included the new Flower Point chairlift, new terrain and a renovation of the Base Lodge.

Cowboy Ball packs the tent at Polson Fairgrounds
Inside the big tent on the Polson Fairgrounds Friday night, a sea of western hats and decked-out ladies ebbed and flowed around the dining tables into groups of friends, three silent auction “corrals,” two no-host bars catered by the Perfect Shot Tavern, and the live auction items. It was the 31st annual Cowboy Ball banquet and auction held by Polson Fairgrounds, Inc.

Tribal Health celebrates with open house
POLSON - A few months after opening for service, the brand new Tribal Health Building held an open house last Wednesday for all to explore the interior of the three-story structure on the corner of 1st St. West and Third Ave in Polson.

Man gets three years for trying to provide alcohol to minors
A Polson man who admitted providing alcohol to a 15-year-old girl who later died was sentenced to eight years last week, with five suspended, after his probation officer caught him trying to buy beer for a minor last summer.

It doesn’t seem like 50 years ago, but it was – Good Friday afternoon, March 24, in the Anchorage area of Alaska. Several Flathead and Mission Valley people were living in Anchorage, Wasilla, Kodiak Island, Valdez and Seward. Hello from Helena! As you may or may not know, this is a busy place. Even as bills begin to trickle onto the house floor for votes, the committee hearings are in full swing. The trickle will soon become a torrent with nearly 2,000 bills proposed. Of course, the committee hearings are the most critical point in the life of a bill as it journeys into law or the wastebasket.

Building Blitz: Community comes together to build Jake's House
From 30 to 40 volunteers were swarming the building site for Jake's House the weekend of Aug. 9-11. They were carrying boards, sweeping concrete, putting in floor joists, wheeling equipment around the site and installing a subfloor.
Update from Helena
Last Friday, Saturday and Monday we heard HB 2 (the budget) on the floor of the House. It was difficult and often contentious. At times it sure seemed like theater, as speeches were read on the floor.
