Fentanyl blamed for child's death
A married couple from Ronan are accused of exposing their 13-month-old child to fentanyl, leading to the boy’s death. Roberta Hammer, 22, and Nyibe Jordan Nguyen, 25, each entered pleas of not guilty in Polson District Court March 28 to felony negligent homicide.

Pablo man dies in camper fire
A 63-year-old Pablo man who died in a camper-trailer fire last week has been identified as Steven L. Rosenbaum, according to Lake County Sheriff Don Bell. His two dogs, Sneak and Buddy, also died in the blaze.

Commissioners approve 5% salary increase
Prior to adopting the final budget this Thursday, Lake County Commissioners approved a 5% pay increase or $1 more an hour, whichever is higher, for county employees last week.

Fairgrounds offers sanctuary to fire evacuees
When mandatory evacuations for Walking Horse Lane and Early Dawn Road and adjacent areas near Big Arm were announced last Thursday afternoon by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, Vicki Holmberg, Polson Fairgrounds caretaker, was immediately on the phone with people seeking shelter for their animals and places to park their campers and RVs. When she wasn’t on the phone, she was showing people where to put their animals.
